Stripes have been ruling the fashion world for the last 150 years and counting, The pattern has evolved from medieval times as a pattern only worn by prisoners, clowns, prostitutes, hangmen and all the condemned(as it was a pattern associated with all things evil and mad!!) to the ultimate in CHIC!

Striped fabric was pioneered by the influential Coco Chanel at the beginning of the 20th century and since grown in popularity.

Throughout the decades the stripe has been given a new edge-Coco Chanel preferred the masculine slack with her stripe-minimal and so very Chanel. Marilyn Monroe added sass with a bold red lipstick, whilst Bridgette Bardot showed us how the french did it with simple accessories. and some serious 60s back combing. Princess Diana's tailored look was bold and striking whilst the 90s grunge teen look-as seen on Winona Ryder was oversized and nonchalant.

Frow favorites Sienna, Olivia and Alexa showing us how to make a stripe extra chic and modern.

The Kardashians show us the diversity of a stripe blouse!

Add a pop of colour like Jessica Alba-think Autumn-burnt oranges, yellow ochres, burgundy!

And this how we do...@harlemheart.
